A. You may apply as soon as you occupy the residence as the legal owner and have proof of Florida Residency. See documents listed below.
Q What is homestead exemption?
A. The homestead exemption is a constitutional guarantee that reduces the assessed value of a residential property for qualified permanent Florida residents.
Q. What information do i need to bring to file for homestead exemption?
A. (a) A copy of your deed.
(b) To establish proof of residency, all owners who occupy the property must present the following in person at the Appraisers office.
1. Florida Driver's License or a Florida Identificatiom card for non-drivers (which can be obtained at the Florida Highway Patrol)
2. Florida voter registration card or decleration of domicile.
3. Florida auto registration on all vehicles privately owned.
4. Social Security Numbers.
